I spent 23 months as an Assistant Marketing Manager at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, a luxury four-season resort located in Farmington, PA. I played a key role in Nemacolin’s improvement online as the manager responsible for all internet-related projects of four websites, including nemacolin.com.

Also, I developed an e-mail marketing schedule and organic search optimization plan to increase site visits, online bookings, retail sales, and call volume. Because of these projects, nemacolin.com exceeded two million unique visits for the first time in 2007 and doubled online bookings versus 2006.

Today, I live in Millersville, PA and work at ProspectMX in Lancaster. ProspectMX is a Pennsylvania internet marketing agency that provides services like online lead generation, search engine optimization, and website design to a variety of clients, including GetMyHomesValue.com, a 2008 Inc. 500 company.

Past internship and employment experiences have provided me the opportunity to moderate Message Boards, develop site content plans, and compose marketing communications for companies in a variety of industries.

Over time, many national real estate lead generation companies are becoming aware of the frustration real estate agents have with their model, especially the idea of reselling leads. While many lead gen companies have leads that they do not specifically assign to leads, many are promising exclusivity to agents who use their service, which is a huge plus for the agents who work with them.

From these comments - all of which are great - I have to say that I think a lot of real estate agents don't fully understand the internet consumer. Sure, some people searching the internet will become low hanging fruit leads - they are moving or relocating in the NOW and need an agent. However, the cycle for an internet consumer in the real estate industry is 28 months! On average, a client who comes into a site as a lead will make a sale or be looking to buy over the course of 28 months. What you won't be able to tell from a first site visit is what point in the cycle they are in. So taking these internet real estate leads and cultivating a relationship with them so they become a low hanging lead is necessary. Just because a lead comes in from your website doesn't mean they're going to want to sell ASAP. Build a pipeline of leads from your site and cultivate relationships. Word of mouth still works for agents, right? Jonathan Bentz ProspectMX 717.406.1840 ext. 3407

Social networking seems to be BOOMING in popularity among real estate agents. Think about it - its cost effective and provides multiple channels for communication. Amazing to think that people are now selling homes through Twitter and blogging on multiple sites. Certainly, social networking is leading agents into the future of real estate marketing.
