Been around the tech side of the industry since 1998. I take real estate seriously and feel it doesn't live up to it's own hype and potential. Then again, I probably don't live up to my own hype either. So I hang around thinking we can help each other. Outside of real estate I have 4 kids, a wife of 25 years that I adore, a few homes, a old Porsche, lots a great books, a killer comic collection, and a bunch of vintage guitars that I dust off and perform with occasionally. I make a great Italian gravy, love cooking for friends and watching my wife put on makeup. Frankly, it doesn't get any deeper than this.

@Mark. The place sounds beautiful. I think the suggestion here is about creating that same stunning statement with a modern, cost effective, 3,000 square ft structure. In fact, we helped NRT accomplish this in Los Angeles 5 years ago in Manhattan Beach, California - http://tinyurl.com/79qcxa Forget the kitchens, the file cabinet rooms, the cubicles and the alcoves filled with machines who leases, and functions can all be replaced by cheap to free web based replacements. With the savings, you could invest in your future. Build a glorious new website. Invest in local Web ranking. Enhance the training for your agents. Invest in mobility. Test out new forms of advertising in an effort to hopefully reduce your dependancy on costly newspapers ads that arguably don't work anymore. Cutting 30,000 sq ft of fat off your bottom line and opening a new and a different type of real estate space would revitalize and or birth new interest from the community at large. And if folded into a campaign that tied in video, radio and social media, you would achieve something most real estate brands can't - differentiating yourself in the marketplace. This could be a recipe for success you and most large brokerages should be cooking with during the coming year. Marc 1000Watt Consulting Turn On!

My question is - do they know what these brands mean and stand for and can they articulate what differentiates one over another. Recognizing a brand name is a far cry from having an inherent appreciation of a brand. The difference can mean everything. Marc 1000Watt Consulting

Michael, Bear in mind, the analysis was culled from the Real Trends 500 and did not include every brokerage in America which is unfortunate because there are some great sites out there that are not in the Real Trends list such as Halstead, Blueroof, Redfin and Sawbuck Realty. We did not include effective marketing as a criteria because there would no way to measure the marketing efforts of 500 companies. As for winning awards vs.leads, come on guys you are missing the point entirely. This wasn't an award or a contest or for that matter a measuring how many quality leads you get. This was a report about the sites that offer, what we feel are the best examples of sites that engage the consumer. And isn't that precisely what drives quality leads? Is it no wonder the sites on this list also rank pretty high in real trends? They obviously figured out how to create a good site, how to drive traffic, and to engage inquiries, how to funnel them through their system and how to close them. Marc 1000Watt Consulting Turn On!
