Re: 'The Lost Listing' (Nov. 30)

Dear Editor:

When I first entered this business, I heard a very clever man say, "There is no such thing as behavior without a reason."

If you apply this knowledge to your buyers, it simply shows why they did not buy for such a long time. They were just not ready.

Of course, it is so very easy to play armchair quarterback now.  more...

Re: 'Realtors become own media to sustain market optimism' (Nov. 23)

Dear Editor:

Bernice IS part of the media. So is she among the psychic vampires?

How easy it is to criticize the messenger.

What about greedy flippers? Investor-buyers who lied and said they were going to be living in the homes? Overexuberant homeowners who giddily cashed out too much equity with HELOCs?  more...

Re: 'Real estate hurt by media spin' (Nov. 16)

Dear Editor:

The current real estate articles are just a reflection of reality, no matter how it is spun. The reality is that we are now in a huge buyer's market.

When we were in a seller's market, the articles reflected the multiple offers and bidding wars, not to mention the articles about how Realtors weren't earning their money and taking advantage of the market (these articles were characterized as negative also).  more...

Re: 'NAR approves voluntary restrictions on use of 'MLS' term' (Nov. 19)

Dear Editor:

It seems to me that NAR is going to have to do a heck of a lot more than offer a credit union to its members to placate them. Many have been asking what the benefit of belonging to the organization really is versus the cost. With so many Americans being uninsured, I would think that offering health care for agents would be far more useful.  more...

Re: 'Real estate hurt by media spin' (Nov. 16)

Dear Editor:

The newspapers of America know only one thing that affects their position on certain topics, and that is profits.

Negative news sells papers, but what I'm totally taken aback by is why Realtors feed these same papers advertisements.

We all know that newspaper advertising is for the home seller and does very little to sell homes. Internet is king when buyers look into buying homes.  more...

Re: 'Anti-predatory-lending bill passes U.S. House committee' (Nov. 8)

Dear Editor:

The determination of "reasonable ability to repay" is going to be a problem for the lending community. I wouldn't be surprised if borrowers sue lenders if they default. They will claim that the lender shouldn't have given them that mortgage in the first place. Even if the lender can prove debt-to-income ratios have been met, if the borrower defaults he or she will try to sue the lender.  more...

Re: 'Flat-fee company protests MLS rules in Washington' (Nov. 9)

Dear Editor:

Listings placed in the MLS are to display not only listings as a service to sellers but, more importantly, to solicit the service of "cooperating brokers," with compensation being offered to those cooperative brokers.  more...
